SS 904L has low carbon content making it immune to sensitization by welding and which makes it resistant to intergranular corrosion. Stainless Steel 904L Pipes and Pipe Fittings has added molybdenum which offers it excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion by chlorides and greater resistance to reducing acids and especially its copper addition gives it useful resistance to corrosion to all concentrations of sulphuric acid.
