SS 904L has low carbon content making it resistant to sensitization by welding and which prevents intergranular corrosion. SS 904L Flanges and Forged Fittings has added molybdenum which offers it outstanding resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion by chlorides and excellent resistance to reducing acids and in particular its copper addition gives it useful resistance to corrosion to all concentrations of sulphuric acid. SS 904L Pipes and Pipe Fittings have high alloying contents which also gives it greater chloride stress corrosion cracking resistance.
