Alloy 20 also known as Carpenter 20 contains niobium for stabilization which improves its resistance to corrosion. Alloy 20 is an iron-base, austenitic alloy with excellent resistance to corrosion to a wide range of media. With the high nickel composition, Alloy 20 Round Bars, Plates, and Fasteners exhibit good resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking. In addition, Alloy 20 also has good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. It shows good corrosion resistance in chemical environments containing chlorides and acids. It also has outstanding mechanical characteristics at both ambient and elevated temperatures.
